Like many DJs, I now use computer technology to play music rather than conventional records or CDs. This has many advantages, including the ability to carry a large library of music which can be instantly recalled. However whereas some DJs will play poor quality (and often illegally) downloaded music, my entire library has been transferred from my own CD collection. The system I use was designed for the radio industry and is very reliable. Just to be safe though, I carry a second backup computer.
It's important to have a sound system with enough power to fill the dancefloor with a crisp, rich and full sound, without running the risk of distortion or system overload. In a marquee for instance, the sound is easily lost as there are no solid walls to contain the sound. I always ensure that the sound equipment I install meets the individual specification required for your chosen venue.
The stereo sound systems I normally use consist of two individually powered units. Therefore, in the unlikely event of one unit developing a fault, the other will continue working, making for an extremely resiliant system.
I tend not to go overboard when it comes to disco lighting as I believe that this can look tacky, and that the emphasis should be on the music. I do however, provide enough tasteful lighting effects to create the right atmosphere on your dancefloor.
I pride myself in the quality, safety and reliability of my equipment. My work and equipment is covered by a £5,000,000 public liability policy.
